First Tulum is in 3 parts and this will make a big difference. First you have the city of Tulum right on the highway. Second you have the beach area of Tulum which is 3K east of Tulum and runs for miles to the south and third the Tulum Riviera Maya several hotels along the highway. As Jim said the basic shared transfer is 35US see link. tulumairporttransfers.com/ Again as Jim said you can take the ADO (awe-day-o) bus (see link) from the airport to Playa del Carmen. This bus will take you nonstop to downtown Playa to the ADO terminal on Juarez and 5TH Ave. You will want to check here for an ADO or Maya bus to Tulum. They will have Tulum printed on the hood. The cost is 4US and they leave just about every10 minutes or so. They will stop in front of each hotel along the highway to Tulum and this terminates in Tulum the city. If you are staying at a beach front Tulum hotel than you will take a taxi the rest of the way. A shared shuttle is $40 usd. If you are concerned with cost then there is ADO bus sevice that would be a lot less but would be a lot more hassle. However you can take the bus to the Bus Station and on to Tulum from there. Here is a link for you The ADO bus charges $7.50 usd . The ruins are listed on their destinations but they say there is no service. You can get to the city of Tulum for that price. Service is frequent.and appears to be every hour. The bus to Cancun Bus station from the Airport is $4.00 usd Don`t misunderstand what anyone says at the Airport or you may end up having lunch at a time share seminar. Make it clear you want service to the Cancun Bus Station! In all, it is almost 80 miles and a 1 hour and 45 minutes once you are underway.
